Allegations that Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South, was booed during a condolence visit to Toro local government area of state have been described as false and baseless.

Speaking to journalists in Sunday on the matter, Ibrahim Ori, an aide to the Senator Buba who accompanied him on the visit, dismissed the reports circulating in the media, said the report is "fabrications not grounded in fact."

“Our attention was drawn to a media publication alleging that Senator Shehu Buba was booed during a condolence visit to Toro. This is completely untrue,” Ori stated.

"The writer used the word ‘alleged’ repeatedly throughout the story, which suggests a lack of certainty and professionalism. If a journalist is not 100 percent sure of their information, it is more ethical to drop the story entirely," Ori added.

According to Ori, the Senator’s visit to Toro was peaceful and well-received. During the visit, Senator Buba donated a total of N65 million to support various community causes. The breakdown of donations includes N50 million for the construction of a mosque, N5 million for the family of the deceased, N5 million for elders, and N5 million for youths.

"There was no incident of booing during or after the Senator’s visit. If anything happened after he left, it should not be attributed to him," Ori clarified.

He emphasised the importance of journalistic integrity, particularly during times of national insecurity and economic hardship.

"Journalists have a critical role in nation-building. Their work should be guided by integrity, truth, and objectivity. Responsible reporting and constructive storytelling are essential to social cohesion and national development, not sensationalism or politically motivated falsehoods," he said.

Ori reiterated that Senator Shehu Buba remained committed to transparency, due process, and providing quality representation for the people of Bauchi South and the entire Bauchi State.
