The Commander General of the Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency, Dr. Umar Aliyu Shayi, has successfully completed an intensive international training course on strategic approaches and challenges in global security systems in Cairo, Egypt.
The training, organised by the Global Horizon Training Centre in collaboration with the Scandinavian Academy, brought together security experts and operatives from across the world to share insights and foster international cooperation in combating global security threats.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, the lead instructor, Professor Ahmad Omar, emphasised the importance of the training, describing it as a platform to equip participants with firsthand knowledge of modern intelligence strategies for tackling terrorism, banditry, organised crime, and other security threats affecting communities worldwide.
Professor Omar urged the participants to apply the knowledge gained in improving security operations in their respective countries. He also called on international stakeholders to support such training initiatives aimed at promoting global peace and security.
In his remarks, Dr. Umar Aliyu Shayi, who was also decorated as an ambassador of the program, expressed gratitude to the organisers for the opportunity to receive tactical training grounded in international best practices. He described the training as the most impactful global security program he has attended in his career.
Dr. Shayi used the opportunity to commend Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his unwavering support in the fight against terrorism, banditry, cattle rustling, and phone snatching in the state. He noted that the governor’s commitment has significantly improved grassroots security.
He also applauded the synergy between the Bauchi State Hunters Group and conventional security agencies, praising their collaborative efforts in intelligence sharing and community policing. In particular, he commended the Bauchi State Police Command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Umar, for its outstanding coordination and support.
Dr. Shayi returned to Nigeria with renewed commitment to strengthening local security architecture, drawing from the global strategies discussed at the Cairo conference.
