Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has honoured two indigenes of the state recently promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) with a grand reception held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House on Saturday.
The event, organised by the state government, celebrated DIG Sahabo Abubakar Yahaya, in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration, and DIG Bzigu Yakubu Dali, overseeing the Department of Operations—both serving at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Governor Fintiri, represented at the occasion, commended the officers for their dedication, professionalism, and exemplary service to the Nigeria Police Force, noting that their promotion was well-deserved and a source of pride to the state.
“You have brought honour to Adamawa State through your hard work and discipline. This recognition is not just a personal achievement but a collective victory for all of us,” the governor’s representative stated.
He urged the new DIGs to remain committed to their duties and assured them of the state government’s continued support. Special gifts were presented to the honorees as a mark of appreciation.
Speaking at the event, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 3, Yola, AIG Adeniran Kunle Akinwale, described the promotions as a reward for consistent commitment and discipline. He also praised Governor Fintiri for his development-driven leadership, which, he said, is making Adamawa a more attractive destination for investors.
Responding on behalf of the honourees, DIG Sahabo Abubakar Yahaya expressed deep gratitude to Governor Fintiri and the people of Adamawa State for the recognition. He reaffirmed their commitment to serving the nation with integrity and honour.
Both DIG Yahaya and DIG Dali hail from Hong and Madagali Local Government Areas of Adamawa State, respectively. Their elevation marks a significant moment of pride for their communities and the state at large.
