Niger State Governor, Farmer Umaru Muhammad Bago, has gifted SR300 (approximately ₦124,710) to each of the 3,026 state pilgrims performing the 2025 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He made this gesture known during a visit to the pilgrims on Friday at the Muna camp in Makkah, where he checked on their welfare and overall experience.

The governor’s visit continues his tradition of engaging directly with state pilgrims to enhance their welfare and ensure a memorable pilgrimage since assuming office.

During the visit, Governor Bago also announced that the return date for the state pilgrims has been set for June 15, 2025, expressing hope for a smooth and safe journey back home after the completion of the Hajj rites.

He commended the Amirul Hajj, the Executive Secretary of the Pilgrims Board, the officials, and all pilgrims for their maturity and dedication throughout the exercise.

The governor also urged the pilgrims to remember Niger State in their prayers, especially the victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa, which claimed several lives and destroyed properties.

Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, Governor Bago reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the affected families and taking preventive measures to avoid similar occurrences in the future.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the Mokwa flood. We are mobilizing resources to assist the victims and ensure their recovery,” he said, adding that the safety and well-being of citizens remain his top priority.

Responding on behalf of the pilgrims, the Amirul Hajj and Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Ahmed Gunna Attairu, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Bago for his unwavering support and dedication to the success of the Hajj exercise. He praised the governor’s generosity and leadership, which have significantly enhanced the pilgrims’ experience in the holy land.
