The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, popularly known as the Farmer Governor, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a Sallah message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago described the 2025 Eid celebration as one of mixed emotions, as the state continues to mourn the loss of lives and properties worth millions of naira following a recent flood disaster that devastated several communities in Mokwa Local Government Area.
He noted that Eid-el-Kabir is a solemn reminder of the virtues of sacrifice, empathy, obedience, and steadfast faith in the will of Allah—values which, he said, are especially vital in times of hardship.
“These noble acts are essential, particularly now, as we stand in solidarity with the victims to offer support, comfort, and strength in their time of grief,” the statement read.
Governor Bago assured affected families and communities that his administration remains committed to mobilizing resources to support recovery efforts and to putting measures in place to prevent future occurrences.
He urged residents of the state to use the sacred period of Eid to intensify prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased, comfort for the survivors, and peace for the entire state.
“My heart is truly heavy. However, in the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir, may Allah accept all our sacrifices and supplications as we continue to pray for divine protection, peace, and prosperity in our dear state,” the Governor stated.
