The All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen and stakeholders from Dass, Tafawa Balewa, and Bogoro Federal Constituency have applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the 8th National Assembly, as the Board Chairman of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC).

In a statement jointly signed by the APC State Legal Adviser, Rabiu Garba, and 19 other stakeholders, and made available to journalists in Bauchi yesterday, the group described Dogara’s appointment as a strategic move that places "the right man in the right position."

"We commend President Tinubu for making a wise and commendable choice. Dogara’s leadership at NCGC is expected to bring credibility, strategic direction, and impactful development to the organisation and the nation," the statement said.

The stakeholders encouraged Dogara to remain steadfast in his dedication to public service, urging him to renew his commitment to serving humanity and supporting the less privileged.

They said, “He is known for his discipline, humility, honesty, fear of God, and exceptional leadership qualities. Dogara represents a beacon of hope and courage.”

They further noted the achievements of the House of Representatives under Dogara’s leadership during the 8th Assembly, highlighting the passage of over 300 bills, more than 1,000 resolutions, and numerous public petitions.

According to them landmark legislation during his tenure included the establishment of the North East Development Commission, the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill, and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Bill.

“Despite tradition discouraging presiding officers from sponsoring legislation, Hon. Dogara defied convention by personally sponsoring over 10 bills and becoming the first Speaker to sponsor a motion on the floor of the House. His advocacy for local government autonomy was also widely recognized,” they added.

According to the stakeholders, Dogara’s appointment reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to fairness, regional balance, and merit-based appointments.

"This action addresses the concerns raised regarding Northern representation in key federal positions. It’s a testament to President Tinubu’s openness to constructive feedback and his resolve to act in the national interest.”

They emphasised that Dogara’s vast experience will strengthen the NCGC’s role in reducing lending risks and improving access to credit for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), manufacturers, and consumers.

The APC leaders pledged their continued support and prayers for President Tinubu, praising him as a “listening President” who prioritised equity and national unity.

"This appointment is a clear sign of President Tinubu’s responsiveness to the people’s aspirations. His ability to select competent individuals for critical roles exemplifies effective leadership," the statement added.

They expressed hope that Dogara’s leadership would help unite the nation, enhance governance, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic recovery.
