The Great Dein of Agbor Kingdom has once again been honoured for his exceptional leadership, receiving a merit award from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in South Carolina, USA. This recognition celebrates His Royal Majesty’s unwavering dedication to the well-being and progress of his people.
This latest accolade follows a similar honour bestowed upon him in 2023, when the State of South Carolina presented Dein with a Legislative Award for his impactful service.
In a letter dated May 30, 2025, Sheriff Leon Lott expressed deep respect and admiration for Dein’s exemplary leadership. The letter commends His Majesty for being a beacon of light in a world yearning for true leadership and highlights the positive influence he has beyond the borders of his kingdom.
Sheriff Lott’s letter reads in part: “In recognition of our friendship and your unwavering commitment to your people, I am deeply honoured to present you with the Sheriff’s Award for Excellent Leadership. This prestigious award is not easily earned, and I can say without hesitation that Your Majesty is most deserving of this recognition.
“It would be my highest honour to host you for a formal presentation ceremony at my office. Such an occasion would be fitting for a leader of your stature. Should you graciously accept, our mutual friend, Mr. Tonna Okei, is prepared to coordinate the details at your convenience.
“Thank you, Your Majesty, for being a beacon of light in a world that often yearns for true leadership. The positive impact you have made extends far beyond your kingdom, and leaders like you are vital to the success and unity of communities across the globe.”
Knight Sir Tonna Okei Ikuku Oma, a native of Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State and currently based in South Carolina, also lauded the Dein for this outstanding achievement. As President of the South Carolina Organisation of African Unity (OAU), Sir Tonna praised His Majesty’s selfless dedication to his royal duties and noted that such rare qualities have earned him numerous awards both in Nigeria and internationally.
Sir Tonna fondly recalled the Deins’ visit to Atlanta last year, describing it as a memorable occasion. “Without any shadow of doubt, our people will never forget when he joined us via Zoom — the first time he participated in such a meeting officially. He spoke eloquently, referencing many books, and our community was immensely proud.
“During the months of racial tension in the USA, His Royal Majesty reached out to Carolina leaders, urging peace and dialogue. He personally engaged with the Chief of Columbia Police and the Sheriff, which contributed to the State of South Carolina honouring him with the Legislative Award in 2023,” Sir Tonna concluded.
This new award further cements the Dein of Agbor Kingdom’s reputation as a wise, compassionate, and impactful leader whose influence transcends continents.
