A coalition of concerned citizens in Bauchi State has declared its unwavering support for Senator Halliru Dauda Jika's ambition to contest the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was announced during a one-day sensitisation and awareness meeting held yesterday in Darazo Town, Bauchi Central Senatorial District. The event brought together political stakeholders, youth representatives, and women leaders to deliberate on the importance of supporting Senator Jika’s candidature.
Speaking at the gathering, the State Chairman of the coalition, Hon. Ahmad Yero, said the initiative aimed to educate residents of Bauchi Central Zone on their vital role in advancing the Dokaji Movement—a grassroots political movement backing Senator Jika.
He described the former lawmaker as a tested and trusted leader, referencing his record of public service as Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Member representing Gamawa/Darazo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and Senator for Bauchi Central at the National Assembly.
Yero also noted Senator Jika’s tenure as Chairman of the House Committee on Police Affairs, stressing that his experience, leadership qualities, and legislative accomplishments make him a suitable candidate to govern Bauchi State.
He reminded participants that Senator Jika recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and urged citizens to support his governorship bid under the new platform.
Speaking on behalf of Bauchi Central Zone coordinators, Muhammad Shatima Abubakar reaffirmed the coalition's total commitment to Senator Jika’s aspiration. He stated that both the coalition and Senator Jika share a vision for transforming Bauchi State, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, agriculture, and job creation.
Abubakar added that the senator’s developmental agenda aligns closely with the coalition’s goals and expressed optimism that Jika’s leadership would usher in meaningful progress across the state.
The coalition concluded by emphasizing that its mobilisation drive will be instrumental in building grassroots support, and its endorsement sends a strong message about Senator Jika’s capacity to lead Bauchi State in 2027.
