Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid tributes to the late Emir of Zuru, Muhammadu Sani Sami, describing him as a royal father whose legacies of service to the nation and humanity will always be remembered.
The Emir passed away on Saturday, August 16 in London after a protracted illness.
He was laid to rest in a private garden within his residence in Zuru, Kebbi State, in line with his wishes.
According to a post on the X handle of Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Shettima led the Federal Government’s delegation to the state funeral, where he extended President Bola Tinubu’s condolences to the Kebbi State government and the family of the deceased.
“I am here at the behest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to personally convey his deepest condolences to the governor of Kebbi State, the immediate family of the deceased, the entire people of Zuru and all Nigerians, over this great loss,” Shettima said at the ceremony.
Dignitaries at the funeral included Kebbi State Governor, Nasiru Idris; the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammed Sa’ad Abubakar III; the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II; former Niger State Governor, Sani Bello; Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Yusuf Sununu; former Interior Minister, Abdulrahman Danbazau; APC National Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Suleiman Argungu, and other traditional rulers.
