Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has called for unity among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State, stressing the need for collective effort to sustain the party’s dominance.
Speaking during a special interactive session with stakeholders from the federal constituencies in the Niger East Senatorial District, Bago said all members must work together ahead of key political contests.
He noted that the upcoming Munya State Assembly by-election, scheduled for Saturday, would serve as a litmus test for the APC ahead of the November 2025 council elections.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements across various sectors, the governor pledged to deliver more development to the people of the senatorial district, despite what he described as “emerging distractions.”
Bago commended Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, who represents Niger East, for awarding foreign scholarships to 100 youths in medical-related fields and for allocating an additional 30 slots to the Niger State Government for students from Niger South and Niger North Senatorial Districts.
Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba urged APC members not to underestimate the opposition, but to redouble their efforts to secure victory at all levels.
Senator Musa described Bago as a “phenomenal leader” whose achievements have set him apart from other governors, particularly in Northern Nigeria, and called for sustained support to achieve greater results.
Lawmakers from the Niger East Senatorial District praised the governor for maintaining relative peace in the area and pledged continued support for his developmental agenda.
APC leaders, including State Chairman Aminu Musa Bobi and Zone B Chairman Walijoh Danladi Ahijo, applauded the governor’s transformation efforts and warned party members against engaging in anti-party activities.
At the end of the meeting, APC stakeholders from Shiroro/Rafi/Munya, Suleja/Tafa/Gurara, Bosso/Paikoro, and Chanchaga Federal Constituencies unanimously endorsed Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 general elections.
