The pavilion of the Dangote Group turned into a beehive of activity on Saturday as it marked its Special Day at the ongoing 20th Abuja International Trade Fair. The event, organised by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has been projected to attract over 100,000 participants from across Nigeria and beyond.
Visitors thronged the Dangote booth to explore the company’s wide range of products and inquire about new investment opportunities. The interest was particularly strong around the Dangote Refinery and other major segments of the conglomerate, including cement, sugar, salt, and fertiliser.
Peter Abdul, a visibly excited visitor, expressed admiration for the brand’s consistent quality and wide reach. “It’s fascinating to see such a large variety of essential products in one place. Dangote products are part of our everyday lives,” he said.
A participant from Kano, Ibrahim Rogo, said he was keen to explore opportunities in petroleum and polypropylene trading. “I’ve collected their contact details to follow up after the fair,” he said.
In a notable show of interest, members of the diplomatic corps also visited the Dangote pavilion, making inquiries about Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Limited, the Group’s truck manufacturing and assembly venture. The company has gained recognition for its efforts to enhance local capacity in logistics and transportation.
Speaking at the event, Dangote Group representative and General Manager, Hashem Ahmed, said the company’s impact goes far beyond manufacturing.
“Every bag of cement, every tonne of fertiliser, every litre of petroleum, and every grain of sugar from Dangote represents more than just a product,” he said. “It symbolizes a job for a Nigerian, a contract for a local supplier, an opportunity for a small business, and a step toward a more prosperous Nigeria.”
Mr. Hashem expressed gratitude to the company's business partners and distributors nationwide. “Your trust, resilience, and commitment have been central to the success of our brand,” he added.
He also commended the ACCI for organizing the Trade Fair and for choosing the theme: "Sustainability: Consumption, Incentives, and Taxation," which, he noted, aligns with Dangote Group’s mission and core values.
President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chief Emeka Obegolu, hailed the long-standing partnership between the Chamber and the Dangote Group.
“As a proud member of our Chamber, the Dangote Group has played a vital role in the growth and visibility of the Abuja International Trade Fair,” Dr. Obegolu said. “Their impressive pavilion and extensive product showcase reflect a deep commitment to trade promotion and industrial growth in Nigeria.”
He noted that the Group’s investments across sectors—from cement and agriculture to energy—demonstrate that sustainability and innovation are not just aspirational goals but practical business strategies.
“Their focus on local value addition, backward integration, and renewable energy aligns perfectly with the Chamber’s vision for a competitive, self-reliant Nigerian economy,” he stated.
Dr. Obegolu also praised the Group President, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for his foresight and unwavering commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s economy.
He further highlighted ACCI’s holistic business support system, which includes the Abuja Trade Centre (ATC), Business Entrepreneurship and Skills Technology (BEST) Centre, Dispute Resolution Centre (DRC), and the Policy Advocacy Centre (PAC), alongside over 16 active trade groups.
“In all these efforts, our partnership with the Dangote Group has been invaluable in expanding trade opportunities and advocating for a more business-friendly environment,” he concluded.
