A governorship aspirant under the African Democratic Congress, Alhaji Hon. Abba Anas Adamu Laushi, has reportedly been killed by kidnappers after a ransom was paid for his release.

The deceased was said to have been abducted last Friday along the Kaduna-Abuja highway while travelling to purchase his nomination form for the Jigawa State governorship election.

Sources said the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N75 million for his release after abducting him alongside another individual. While the second victim reportedly escaped from captivity, Hon. Abba Anas was allegedly killed despite the payment of the ransom.
His remains were said to be on their way to Kano for burial as of the time of filing this report.

Until his death, the late politician was seeking the governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State.

Hon. Abba Anas previously served as a member of the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011, representing the Birniwa, Guri and Kirikasamma Federal Constituency of Jigawa State.

The incident has again highlighted growing concerns over insecurity and recurring cases of kidnapping along the Kaduna-Abuja highway, a route that has witnessed several abductions in recent years.

Family members, political associates, and supporters have continued to mourn the late politician, describing his death as tragic and unfortunate.

Meanwhile, prayers have continued to pour in for the repose of his soul, with many calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to tackle banditry and kidnapping across the country.
