The Zamfara State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP I.B. Maikaba, psc+, has announced the commencement of full enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit (TGP) regulations across the country, effective Thursday, October 2, 2025.
In a statement signed by DSP Yazid Abubakar, ANIPR, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Zamfara State Command, the enforcement exercise aligns with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004, a critical law aimed at curbing criminal activities and enhancing national security.
The Command emphasised that the grace period earlier given to vehicle owners to obtain or renew their Tinted Glass Permits has officially ended. Motorists driving vehicles with tinted windows are now required to present valid and verifiable permits upon request by law enforcement officials.
Driving with tinted glass without a valid permit is now a punishable offence.
Routine checks will be conducted across Zamfara State, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Niger State.
Defaulters risk having their vehicles impounded and may face legal prosecution.
Motorists are strongly advised to take the following steps:
🔗 Visit the official police permit portal: www.possap.gov.ng
📞 Contact the support lines: 08034805544, 08032393343
The Police Command calls on all residents to comply with this directive, noting that compliance is both a legal duty and a collective responsibility in the interest of public safety.
“We urge all motorists and citizens to show patriotism and support law enforcement during this nationwide exercise,” the statement reads.
The announcement coincided with Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations, as the Command wished all citizens a safe and secure future.
