The Niger State Government has announced plans to replicate the sustainable model of the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone in the Republic of Benin at the Special Agro-Processing Zone located at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna.

The initiative follows Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s recent visit to the Republic of Benin, which was aimed at fostering partnerships, empowering local industries, and driving long-term economic growth.

During his visit to the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone, Governor Bago undertook a peer review exercise to assess the successes recorded by the Beninese model and explore ways to adapt its best practices for the Special Agro-Processing Zone in Niger State.

Impressed by the high standards of the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone, the governor reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with the Benin Republic to accelerate growth and development in Niger State.

Governor Bago described the partnership as a strategic and developmental relationship, emphasizing that his administration stands to learn greatly from the Beninese experience. He noted that the industrial zone has earned a reputation as one of West Africa’s leading hubs for textiles, agro-processing, and export-oriented manufacturing.

Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Abdullahi Aliyu Sabi, commended the initiative, noting that strategic partnerships of this nature align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s drive to achieve a one-trillion-dollar economy. He stressed that collaboration in the agricultural sector remains key to unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential.

The Director-General of the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone, Mr. Letondji Beheton, expressed gratitude to the Niger State Government for seeking partnership with the Beninese government. He stated that the collaboration would enhance the economies of both nations, adding that the zone is ready to produce quality seeds to support farmers and boost productivity.

Governor Bago and his delegation were later conducted on a tour of the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone facilities by the Director-General.
