The Adamawa State Police Command has dismissed as false a viral social media report claiming that the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was beheaded by Fulani terrorists.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the report, originating from a Facebook user identified as Lionman Lioni, was a deliberate attempt to incite panic, tension, and religious unrest among residents. “The Command wishes to categorically refute this malicious claim in its entirety. There is no such incident recorded anywhere in Adamawa State,” the statement read.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, urged the public to disregard the fake report and refrain from spreading unverified information that could undermine peace and security in the state. Nguroje added that the police have launched an investigation to track down and prosecute those responsible for the false publication, warning that attempts to incite violence through social media would not be tolerated.

In a related development, the Adamawa state chapter of CAN also urged the public to ignore the circulating fake news. The leadership described the social media posts as baseless and intended to smear the government and security agencies, creating confusion in an already fragile environment.

The statement reassured the public that the Adamawa CAN Chairman is safe, in good health, and actively carrying out his official duties without threat, fear, or intimidation.
