The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions across the state, including federal and private schools, citing rising security concerns.
This was contained in a statement issued Monday by Jalaludeen Usman, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education.
According to the statement, the decision, described as difficult but necessary, follows extensive consultations and is aimed at safeguarding students, teachers, and entire school communities.
"The government is fully aware of the inconvenience this may cause," the statement read. “
"However, protecting our children remains our highest moral responsibility. Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear."
The state government appealed to parents, guardians, school proprietors, and stakeholders to remain calm and cooperate with the measures while security agencies work to address the threats swiftly and comprehensively.
"We urge citizens to remain vigilant. If you see something, say something. Timely information from the public is crucial in safeguarding our communities," the statement added.
The government assured that updates will be provided as the situation unfolds and that academic activities will resume once it is deemed safe.
