The Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has declared tomorrow Friday 28th November, 2025 as work-free day across the state as a mark of respect and honour for late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, whose funeral prayer is scheduled to take place tomorrow in accordance with Islamic rites.
According to a statement issued by his media aide Mukhtar Gidado on Thursday said the decision is meant to enable government workers, students, followers of the late scholar, and the general public to participate in the funeral prayers and pay their last respect.
Gidado said the government recognised the profound impact of Sheikh Bauchi’s life and legacy, his dedication to Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic education, spiritual mentorship, and promotion of peace, unity, and moral uprightness across Nigeria and beyond.
"As the state mourns this monumental loss, the government calls on all citizens to join in prayers for the repose of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi’s soul, and to offer support and comfort to his family, students, followers, and the broader Muslim Ummah.
"May the soul of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi rest in eternal peace. Ameen," the statement said.
Hundred thousands of Muslims are expected to gather tomorrow, Friday, at 3:00 p.m. at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi for the funeral prayer of the renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed away on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the residence of the late scholar, M. Daha Azhary Bauchi announced that Sheikh Dahiru Usman's longtime friend, Shariff Ibrahim Saley Al’husainiy, will lead the funeral prayer, in accordance with the Sheikh’s wishes.
"The funeral of Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi will be conducted tomorrow, Friday, 28-11-2025, at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium at 3:00 p.m., immediately after the Jumu’ah prayers. His close friend, Shariff Ibrahim Saley Al’husainiy, will lead the prayer as he was chosen by the late Sheikh," the statement said.
Mourners from across Nigeria and several parts of Africa are expected to attend the funeral.
