The Dangote Group says it is partnering with key stakeholders to revitalise and strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural sector as part of its broader commitment to economic development.

The announcement comes as the company sponsors the 17th National Agricultural Show, scheduled to open on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

According to the Group’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, expanding mechanised agriculture remains crucial to improving Nigeria’s GDP and creating sustainable employment opportunities for the growing youth population.

“Through this partnership, the company aims to encourage increased participation in commercial agriculture and reinforce its role in advancing Nigeria’s economic growth,” he said.

He described the theme for this year’s event, Employing Smallholder Farmers: Restoring Value, Ensuring Productivity to Achieve Food Security in Nigeria, as timely and relevant.

Mr Chiejina explained that restoring value to agriculture presents Nigeria with a practical path to economic renewal. With the right incentives and modern farming practices, he said, agriculture could once again become a dependable engine of growth, driving job creation, stabilising markets and strengthening the nation’s economic foundation.

A major fixture in the country’s agricultural calendar, the National Agric Show provides an avenue for showcasing innovations across the agricultural value chain.

According to the statement, the Dangote Group is currently constructing rice mills in Kano, Jigawa, Niger, Kebbi and Sokoto states, with a combined milling capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum—an initiative aligned with the government’s push for food security.

The Senior Adviser to the President of the Dangote Group, Mrs Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, said the company is also making significant investments in sugar backward-integration projects in Nasarawa and Adamawa states, consistent with its commitment to strengthening agro-industrial value addition.

She highlighted the company’s fertilizer complex in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos, which produces 3 million metric tonnes of urea annually, as another major contribution to the agricultural sector.

Speaking on the company’s long-standing support, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria, Arc Kabiru Adamu, described Dangote Group as “our greatest ally from inception,” noting that the annual Agric Show has benefited tremendously from the company’s consistent partnership.

Arc Adamu, who is also the President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), encouraged the Dangote Group to channel even more investment into agriculture following its transformational achievements in the oil and gas sector.

He added that this year’s edition is expected to attract a large turnout of farm machinery manufacturers, processors, researchers, and youth and women farmers committed to strengthening Nigeria’s food system.
