Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has approved the immediate dissolution of the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), including the office of the Secretary to the Board.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, who explained that the move is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition and strengthen the state’s education sector for better efficiency, accountability, and improved service delivery.
According to the statement, all members of the dissolved Board, including the Secretary, have been directed to hand over official documents, assets, and responsibilities to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
Governor Bago, who has consistently emphasized education reform as a key pillar of his administration, expressed appreciation to the outgoing Board members for their contributions to the growth and development of basic education in the state. He also wished them success in their future endeavours.
The dissolution is expected to pave the way for a new structure aimed at revitalizing basic education across Niger State in line with the governor’s broader reform agenda.
