The Media Forum of the Islamic movement, under the leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of seven journalists and media practitioners who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Gombe State.
According to the statement signed by Khalid Doya on behalf of the Media Forum on Wednesday, 31st December, 2025, the organisation described the incident as a devastating loss to the Nigerian media industry and the nation at large.
The Forum extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, their colleagues, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and the entire media community in Nigeria, noting that the fallen journalists were dedicated professionals who served society with truth, commitment, and sincerity.
It stated that the contributions of the deceased to public enlightenment and national development would always be remembered, adding that their untimely deaths had created a painful vacuum in the media profession.
The Media Forum also sympathised with journalists and other victims who sustained injuries in the accident, praying for their speedy and complete recovery.
“At this difficult moment, we pray that Almighty God grants the departed souls eternal rest and gives their loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss,” the statement read, while also offering prayers that such tragic incidents would be prevented in the future.
