President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renaming of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, Bauchi State, in honour of the late renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

The President announced the decision on Saturday during a condolence visit to the family of the revered cleric in Bauchi, where he paid glowing tribute to Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s lifelong commitment to the service of God, humanity and the Nigerian nation.

President Tinubu described the late scholar as a distinguished religious leader and a moral compass whose teachings on honesty, integrity and good character positively shaped generations of Nigerians across religious and regional divides.

According to him, the decision to rename the university was a recognition of the cleric’s enduring legacy and immense contributions to spiritual growth, education and national unity.

The President arrived at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi, at about 4:50 p.m., where he was received by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang; ministers and other senior government officials.

Among those present to welcome the President were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and the Minister of Health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate.

Members of the presidential entourage included the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, and other top government functionaries.
