The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has disclaimed a write-up titled “Malagi 2027,” allegedly authored by his aide, Sa’idu Enagi, which speculated on permutations for the 2027 Niger State governorship election.
In a statement issued by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, the Minister described the publication as unauthorised and misleading, stressing that he is fully focused on his responsibilities at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and has no interest in political distractions.
The statement urged members of the public to disregard the write-up, noting that the Minister neither directed nor approved its publication.
It further disclosed that an immediate investigation has been ordered into the matter, while the aide responsible for the publication has been suspended with immediate effect.
According to the statement, the Minister maintains a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, anchored on advancing the collective interests of the state. As such, the statement noted that speculations surrounding the 2027 governorship election are inimical to these shared objectives.
