Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Thursday swore in a new Commissioner for Education, five Special Advisers and two Permanent Commissioners as part of efforts to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery in the state.
The ceremony, held in Bauchi, saw the inauguration of Hon. Abdulkadir Ibrahim as Commissioner for Education. Also sworn in were Yusuf Ibrahim and Nasiru Mohammed Yalwa, who are returning for a second tenure as Permanent Commissioners in the State Civil Service Commission.
The five newly appointed Special Advisers are Halima Ibrahim Dimis (Nigeria for Women Project and Women Affairs), retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Sani Usman Mohammed (Chief Security Adviser), Hassana Arkila (Empowerment), Ahmed Tijjani Baba (Social Reorientation), and Sha’awanatu Yusuf (State Action Committee on Gender-Based Violence).
Speaking at the event, Governor Mohammed stressed the need for urgency, teamwork and shared responsibility in governance.
“We must be impatient collectively, not just me, because my time is limited. Many of you will return to the trenches for the next phase as interested stakeholders,” he said.
The governor described the appointments as part of his administration’s deliberate efforts to reinforce governance structures, deepen institutional efficiency and improve service delivery across the state.
After administering the oath of office, he reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, equity, justice and fairness in the conduct of government business. He urged the appointees to uphold the rule of law and discharge their responsibilities with integrity, professionalism and a strong sense of public duty.
Governor Mohammed further charged them to work collaboratively with relevant ministries, departments and agencies to accelerate socio-economic development and ensure citizens benefit from the dividends of democracy.
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated officials, the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Abdulkadir Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in them. He pledged their loyalty, dedication and commitment to advancing the administration’s vision of inclusive growth and sustainable development in Bauchi State.
