Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has directed the payment of four months’ allowances to 60 Hisbah members serving at the Annur Mosque in Legbo Kutigi, Chanchaga Local Government Area.
The governor gave the directive to the Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government, Dr. Mustapha Mohammed Jibril Alheri, who subsequently facilitated the disbursement at a ceremony held at the council secretariat.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy State Commander of Hisbah, Malam Abubakar GiÉ—aÉ—o, expressed appreciation to the governor for his prompt intervention and continued support for the Hisbah organisation.
He disclosed that he had met with Governor Bago a day earlier over the issue of the outstanding allowances, adding that the governor immediately directed the council chairman to ensure payment.
Also speaking, Dr. Alheri thanked God for the successful disbursement and commended Governor Bago for his leadership, describing the move as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to community welfare.
He also acknowledged the patience and persistence of the Hisbah leadership in pursuing the matter, while calling for continued prayers for the success of the state government and the local council.
The payment is seen as part of the state government’s efforts to support the activities of Hisbah members, who play a role in promoting moral values and social order within their communities.
