On Friday, March 27, 2026, followers of Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky staged a protest in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to express concern over the worsening security situation in the country.

The demonstration was held at the Wuse Market Central Mosque, where participants carried photographs and banners with messages urging the government to take swift and decisive action. Some of the placards read: “We condemn the rising insecurity in Nigeria” and “We must act now.”

The protest coincided with the influx of citizens—particularly from Northern Nigeria—into Abuja for the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention. However, the demonstrators stressed that their overriding concern remains the escalating insecurity affecting various parts of the country.

Some residents in the area expressed support for the protest, taking photographs and describing the call for peace and security as timely and necessary. Others noted that Zakzaky’s followers are among the few groups openly highlighting the growing security challenges, especially in the nation’s capital.

The protesters reiterated their call for the government to intensify efforts to address insecurity and ensure the protection of lives and property.
