There are growing indications that some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State may engage in activities perceived as anti-party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The concern is said to be particularly focused on the race for the House of Representatives seat for the Kankara, Faskari, and Sabuwa Federal Constituency, where the former Katsina State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Hamza Sulaiman Faskari (Wamban Faskari, Sadaukin Kasar Hausa na I), is expected to contest on the APC platform.

According to sources within the party, some influential APC members have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs and suggested that, unless their grievances are addressed before the 2027 elections, they may work against the party from within.

Among those frequently mentioned is Hon. Bishir Wada Faskari, who is alleged to have openly expressed such sentiments. Reports further indicate that several other party members across Kankara, Faskari, and Sabuwa Local Government Areas share similar views.

Many of those reportedly expressing dissatisfaction are believed to be loyal to Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, the current member representing Kankara, Faskari, and Sabuwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Tafoki recently defected from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is expected to seek re-election under his new party.

According to party sources, some of his supporters have publicly adopted the following political slogan:

Nigeria for Tinubu
Katsina for Dikko
Funtua Zone for Dan Dutse
But Kankara, Faskari, and Sabuwa for PDP.

Political observers believe the development could pose a significant challenge to the APC's electoral prospects in the constituency, particularly to the expected candidacy of Hon. Hamza Sulaiman Faskari.

Some aggrieved members were also quoted as saying that even if disciplinary action were taken against them, they would not voluntarily leave the party.

Sources further revealed that similar tensions are emerging in parts of Kankara and Sabuwa Local Government Areas. However, the extent of their impact on the party's fortunes remains uncertain.

An independent inquiry conducted by our team found that while some dissatisfied members believe their grievances are legitimate, others attribute the situation to inadequate reconciliation efforts and what they describe as a lack of recognition from some close associates of Hon. Hamza Sulaiman Faskari.

Some of those interviewed claimed they are frequently excluded from political meetings or informed about party activities at short notice despite their loyalty and longstanding support for Hon. Hamza.

According to them, such treatment undermines their political relevance and creates the impression that their contributions are no longer appreciated.

An elder from Yankara, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said individuals such as Engineer Murtala Ibrahim Sheme and Hon. Bala Ado remain among the few respected figures working to promote unity and stability within the political movement.

He added that without the intervention of such personalities, internal divisions within the party might have deepened.

The source further stated that many aggrieved APC members in Faskari Local Government have confidence in Engineer Murtala Ibrahim Sheme, describing him as a unifying figure committed to community development and inclusive leadership.

The concerned members therefore called on Engineer Murtala Ibrahim Sheme and other influential stakeholders to intensify efforts toward reconciliation and unity in support of Hon. Hamza Sulaiman Faskari's political aspirations, rather than allowing internal disagreements to weaken the party ahead of the elections.

They concluded by stressing that the period leading to the 2027 elections should be marked by reconciliation, unity, and mutual respect, rather than political exclusion or divisions based on personal affiliations.

According to them, if the APC is to build a united front behind Hon. Hamza Sulaiman Faskari, all stakeholders must be carried along and treated with fairness, respect, and equal importance.
