In today's world, not everyone who smiles with you is trustworthy, and not every phone conversation should be held carelessly.
Recent events have taught us an important lesson. Some people approach others under the guise of unity or cooperation while secretly recording every word of the conversation. Later, those recordings are released to create division, embarrass individuals, or advance political or business interests.
Trustworthiness is a mark of good character. Secretly recording a private conversation without the knowledge of the other person and then making it public weakens trust and destroys confidence between people.
The lesson everyone should learn is this: Be careful about what you say over the phone, especially when discussing politics, business, or other sensitive matters. Do not place your trust in people too quickly, and always protect your dignity while respecting the dignity of others.
Politics will come and go, businesses may rise and fall, but integrity, trustworthiness, and a good reputation will remain with a person for life.
CONFIDENTIALITY IS A SACRED TRUST
When someone calls you for a private conversation, you should treat everything discussed as a trust. Even if you feel wronged, releasing a private audio recording is not a sign of honesty; in most cases, it is a breach of trust.
A person of integrity can defend themselves without exposing confidential conversations entrusted to them. Once you leak a private recording, people will become afraid to speak openly with you because they will lose confidence in your ability to keep matters confidential.
Trust is the foundation of every healthy relationship. When trust is broken, confidence is lost.
Almighty Allah has commanded us to uphold trusts and fulfill our responsibilities. Therefore, let us protect the confidences entrusted to us, avoid betraying one another, and always speak the truth with wisdom, fairness, and dignity.
May Allah make us among those who uphold trust, protect us from betrayal, and grant us wisdom in speech and righteous conduct. Ameen.
