The National Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has provided a fully solar-powered borehole to Bina Community in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, bringing an end to more than two decades of water scarcity suffered by residents.

The Village Head of Bina, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government through the Managing Director of the Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, for the intervention, describing it as the fulfilment of the community's long-standing dream of having access to clean, potable drinking water.

He thanked Almighty God for granting the Commission's leadership the foresight, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to ensure the successful completion of the project despite initial setbacks that nearly dashed hopes at the beginning of its implementation more than two years ago. He also commended the management of N-HYPPADEC for seeing the project through to completion.

The traditional ruler further appealed to the Commission to fulfil its pledge to provide solar-powered streetlights for the community, noting that the project would significantly enhance the security of lives and property. He also urged the Commission to assist in constructing additional classrooms to accommodate the growing number of pupils in the village.

Alhaji Mohammed Umar reiterated the community's commitment to taking full ownership of the project by ensuring its proper protection and maintenance after its official handover, so that it would continue to benefit both the people of Bina and neighbouring communities.

He also commended and prayed for the son of the soil, Comrade Yakubu Mustapha Bina, who facilitated the execution of the project through the intervention of the leadership of the National Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC).

It would be recalled that residents of Bina Community in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State had endured more than two decades without access to potable drinking water due to years of neglect and abandonment by successive governments.
