The Ministry of Budget, Economic Planning & Multilateral Coordination in Bauchi is responsible for coordinating all matters, activities, and issues concerning economic planning and development in the state.

According to Commissioner Aminu Hammayo, the ministry also provides professional advice on managing the economy and overall socio-economic development.

During the ongoing state ministerial briefing yesterday, Commissioner Hammayo outlined the core functions of the ministry, which include advising the government on policies that promote the state's overall development in line with its policy objectives.

"To draw up, from time to time, the state priorities and programs, and map out all necessary implementation strategies, and coordinate the formulation and implementation of government programs as contained in short, medium, and long-term plans of the state," he stated.

Hon. Aminu Hammayo highlighted that his ministry also coordinates technical assistance through multilateral and bilateral cooperation agreements, including development aids and grants.

"We coordinate the activities of development partners working in the state, including the United Nations Systems (WHO, UNICEF, UNDP, etc.), the World Bank, and local and international NGOs on matters related to the overall development of the state."

He further explained that the ministry prepares the annual capital and recurrent budget, ensures strict compliance with its implementation, and serves as the state's data bank for collecting, collating, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating service statistics.

The ministry also conducts and coordinates research on socio-economic areas, programs, and projects affecting the state, serving as a benchmark to monitor, evaluate, and assess the impact of policies and programs on the local populace's quality of life.

Additionally, the ministry conducts state-wide monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs and ensures the institutionalization of monitoring and evaluation in all MDAs and LGAs.
