Governor Umaru Bago has officially awarded the construction of the 55km Gulu-Evuti-Lambata Road, marking the commencement of work under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

For decades, residents of Lapai Local Government Area have endured the challenges of the road's deplorable condition, which has caused significant economic losses. Farmers have reported millions of naira in wasted produce each year due to poor accessibility.

Communities like Azza in Lapai, particularly reliant on this road, have suffered severe hardships. Many vehicle owners leave their cars in Lapai to avoid damage, resorting to commercial transport for travel. The road project, however, offers hope for improved connectivity and economic opportunities.

What should be a less than one-hour journey currently takes 3-4 hours during the dry season and even longer during the rains. The new project promises a double-coat surface dressing for durability and improved access, aligning with Governor Bago’s rural development vision.
