The Muslim community has been called upon to set aside differences and embrace the teachings of the Prophet of Mercy as a foundation for peace, unity, and prosperity. This appeal was made by Alhaji Baba Umar Adamu, Sheshi Katcha, during the conclusion of the 12th Maulud celebration organized by the emirate district.
In his address, Alhaji Baba Umar emphasized the importance of prayer and adherence to the Prophet’s teachings, urging the community to prioritize the celebration of Maulud over other festivities. He highlighted the need for Muslims to foster stronger relationships not only among themselves but also with non-Muslims, as Islam encourages harmony and mutual respect in all interactions.
The Maulud celebration reflected the joy and dedication of the community. Alhaji Muhammad Mohammad Danjuma Bangi, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, expressed pride in the event's growth over the past decade. He revealed that last year, he personally contributed over two million naira to enhance the festivities and introduced new initiatives this year to ensure inclusivity and warmth for all attendees.
The timing of the Maulud celebration coincided with the harvest season, providing an opportunity for the community to express gratitude to God for His blessings. Alhaji Bangi called on all sons and daughters of Katcha to contribute to the event, underscoring the significance of the Prophet’s birthday as a cherished occasion for unity and reflection.
Sheikh Isah Danjuma Katcha, a revered elder and educator, spoke on the foundational role of prayer in the Prophet’s teachings. He lamented the tendency to elevate other figures over the Messenger of God and stressed the importance of aligning beliefs and practices with the Qur’an and Hadith.
Sheikh Danjuma also commended the community’s leadership for their dedication to promoting unity through the celebration of the Prophet’s birth. He expressed hope that any lingering disagreements would give way to shared joy, knowledge, and mutual understanding.
Katcha District, part of the Bida Kingdom under the leadership of His Royal Highness Etsu Dr Yahaya Abubakar, is renowned for its agricultural and fishing prowess, enriched by the resources of Lake Kainji. Known for its hospitality, the district welcomes visitors from across Nigeria and neighbouring countries. With ongoing infrastructure developments, including improved transport links, Katcha is poised to strengthen its role as a hub for agriculture and trade.
As the Sheshi and leader of the area, Alhaji Baba Umar Adamu reaffirmed the district's commitment to education, unity, and political engagement, ensuring that Katcha remains a vibrant and progressive community contributing to the growth and development of the region.
