The Emir of Yauri in Kebbi State, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi, has commended Governor Nasir Idris for approving ₦50 million for the procurement of a modern royal boat to enhance the emirate's transportation needs.

The approval was announced during the turbaning ceremony of Dr. Yusuf Tanko-Sununu, Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as Danmadamin Yauri. The event took place at the Emir’s palace in Yauri Local Government Area on Sunday.

In addition to Dr Tanko-Sununu, the Emir also turbaned Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah, former Senator representing Kebbi South, as Bauran Yauri, and Alhaji Adamu Muhammad-Birnin-Yauri, a current member of the Kebbi State House of Assembly representing Ngaski, as Lifidan Yauri.

The Emir praised Governor Idris for his administration’s developmental projects across various sectors in the emirate and called on the newly turbaned title holders to promote unity and sustain the prevailing peace in the area. He also urged citizens to support the government’s policies and programs to ensure the effective delivery of democratic dividends.

Speaking on behalf of the newly turbaned chiefs, Dr Tanko-Sununu expressed gratitude to the Emir for the honour and pledged not to disappoint the Emir or the people of Yauri. He assured his readiness to work with the state government and other stakeholders to bring progress to the area.

Tanko-Sununu also called on Nigerians to turn to God for divine intervention in addressing the nation’s challenges. He reminded citizens of a United Nations report predicting that over 30 million Nigerians could face hunger. He, therefore, encouraged the populace to utilize the country’s vast arable lands for dry-season farming to mitigate the risk and ensure food security.

As part of the ceremony, Governor Idris commissioned the newly renovated Yauri palace, a project funded by the state government in collaboration with the Emirate Council.

The event was attended by prominent personalities, including the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu); the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen, represented by Rep. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa.

Other dignitaries included the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida; the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu-Mera; commissioners, special advisers, and other notable figures.
