The Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara State Council, in collaboration with the office of the Minister of State for Defence, Alhaji Bello Muhammed (Matawalle Maradun, Shattiman Sokoto), has set up a 13-member committee to organize a sensitization seminar for journalists and social media influencers in the North-West geopolitical zone on security reportage.

The Ministry of Defense has also solicited journalists' unreserved cooperation in playing their roles towards consolidating ongoing military operations against lingering banditry across the North-West zone.

Inaugurating the committee, the Chairman of the Correspondents' Chapel, Comrade Ishaqa Zaki Tambuwal, emphasized that security is the duty of every citizen. He added, "As working journalists, we assure the Ministry of Defense of all necessary support towards addressing insecurity."

According to the chairman, working journalists would practice developmental journalism and maintain the existing cordial relationship with the Defense Headquarters until the goal of eradicating banditry and other security challenges is achieved.

Umar Muhammad Maradun will serve as Chairman of the committee, with Maiharaji Altine Salah and Comrade Ibrahim Kanoma as Vice Chairmen 1 and 2, respectively. Other members include Idris Salisu, Babangida Ibrahim, Theophilus Darofai, Silas Adamu, Sanusi Muhammad, Abdullahi Abdurrahaman Chakwa, and Husaini Yero.

Ibrahim Ahmad Gada, the State NUJ Council Secretary, will serve as Secretary of the committee, while Aminu Abubakar Mayanchi and Aminu Dalhatu will serve as Assistant Secretaries 1 and 2, respectively.
