Seventeen officials serving in acting capacities across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Kebbi State have been confirmed in substantive roles by the state’s governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu.
A circular issued by the Kebbi State Head of Civil Service, Rashid Muhammad-Bala, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, announced the confirmation of the affected officials. The appointments include one Permanent Secretary, ten General Managers, seven Executive Secretaries, and one Executive Director.
The confirmed officials include A'ishatu Abbas as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice; Zaiyanu Shehu as General Manager of the Water Board; Atiku Malami as General Manager of the Rural Electrification Board (REB); Engr. Muhammad Nadim Abdullahi as General Manager of the Kebbi State Housing Corporation; and Adamu Shehu as General Manager of the Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSA). Others are Basiru Saidu Bakuwai as General Manager of the Kebbi Geographical Information System (KEBGIS); Amina Umar as General Manager of the Kebbi Urban Development Authority (KUDA); Aliyu Umar Dikko as General Manager of the Kebbi State Environmental Protection Agency (KESEPA); Aminu Sani Kamba as General Manager of the Kebbi State Television Service; Hussaini Shamaki as General Manager of the Kebbi Agricultural Supply Company (KASCOM); and Muhammad Dahiru as General Manager of the Birnin Kebbi Central Market.
The Executive Secretaries confirmed are Abdullahi Bello Kalgo for the Secondary School Management Board (SSMB); Hassan Haruna for the Arabic and Islamic Education Board; Abubakar Muhammad for the Primary Healthcare Development Agency; Pharmacist Aminu Hassan for the Kebbi State Drugs and Consumable Agency; Garba Muhammad Kangiwa for the Social Welfare Board; and Uwais Sa’ad for the Local Government Joint Account. Additionally, Abubakar Abdullahi has been confirmed as the Executive Director of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
According to Muhammad-Bala, this action is in line with Governor Idris’ commitment to ending the practice of prolonged acting appointments in the state civil service, ensuring compliance with established laws, and promoting efficiency.
In a related development, Governor Idris has approved the implementation of a new salary scale for the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, and the State Polytechnic, Dakingari. This decision aligns with the Federal Government's directive in circulars No. SWC/04/195/ and 198, dated September 23, 2024.
