Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies in the state.

Governor Bago, fondly referred to as the "Farmer Governor," made this pledge during the 2025 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration and Wreath-Laying Ceremony held in Minna, the state capital.

He emphasized his administration’s determination to collaborate with the military and create an enabling environment for all security agencies in the state to effectively carry out their responsibilities of safeguarding lives and property.

Acknowledging the invaluable sacrifice of those who paid the supreme price for peace and security in the state and the nation, Governor Bago assured that the government would continue to support the widows and widowers of the fallen heroes, ensuring they feel included and valued in society.

The highlight of the ceremony was the wreath-laying, led by Governor Bago, followed by the Deputy Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Mrs. Afiniki Dauda (representing the Speaker), heads of security agencies, and the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar.

Others who participated in the wreath-laying included the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Niger State Chapter, Alhaji Mamuda Ahmed, and a representative of the widows of fallen heroes, Hajiya Hadiza Tamba.

The event also featured special prayers for the souls of the departed heroes, a gun salute, the signing of the remembrance register, and the presentation of a ₦50 million cheque to the Niger State Chapter of the Nigerian Legion.

As part of the ceremony, Governor Bago released pigeons symbolizing peace in Niger State and the country at large.
