The New Arewa Youth Movement (NAYM) has strongly condemned the recent musical releases of Dauda Kahutu Rarara, a popular musician affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing him of inciting hostility between Nigerians and Nigeriens through his songs.

In a statement issued on Friday, NAYM described Rarara’s music, which targets the Head of State of Niger, as "inflammatory" and a threat to the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Niger.

"Nigeria and Niger share deep historical, cultural, and economic ties that should never be jeopardized by reckless rhetoric. It is irresponsible for any individual, especially one with a significant following, to use their platform to sow discord between people who have lived in harmony for generations," the statement read.

The group urged security agencies to take immediate action, calling for the musician to be invited and questioned over his "divisive activities."

"We call on the relevant security agencies to swiftly invite and question Dauda Kahutu Rarara over his divisive activities. His actions have the potential to escalate tensions, and it is imperative that he be cautioned against further incitement," the statement continued.

NAYM also appealed to Rarara to reconsider his approach, emphasizing the role of musicians in fostering unity rather than discord.

"Furthermore, we urge Rarara to reflect on the impact of his words and desist from using his voice as a tool for discord. A musician should be an agent of peace and unity, not a source of division and animosity," the group stated.

The statement further highlighted the transient nature of political leadership, stressing that Nigeria and Niger’s historical ties will outlast any administration.

"It is important to remember that both President Bola Ahmad Tinubu of Nigeria and General Abdourahmane Tchiani of Niger will eventually leave office, but the people of both nations will continue to coexist. Political leadership is temporary, but the bonds of kinship between Nigeria and Niger are enduring," NAYM noted.

The group concluded with a call for unity, urging all influential figures to use their platforms responsibly.

"We call upon all individuals, especially those in positions of influence, to prioritise peace and unity in their words and actions. Our shared future depends on our ability to live together in mutual respect and cooperation," the statement concluded.

The statement was signed by Muhammad Farouk, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the New Arewa Youth Movement
