Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring career progression in the state’s civil service.

Speaking during a Ramadan iftar with Permanent Secretaries and senior civil servants at the Government House in Bauchi, the governor emphasized that improving the remuneration and welfare of civil servants remains a top priority for his administration.

He noted that his government is undertaking various reforms to enhance efficiency and ensure the effective implementation of people-oriented policies and programs.

According to Governor Mohammed, the civil service remains the backbone of any administration’s success in delivering the dividends of democracy. Therefore, his administration is committed to supporting the Office of the Head of Civil Service in training and retraining the workforce to enhance productivity.

“You know I was once a civil servant, and the civil service has played a significant role in shaping my career. Therefore, I am determined to restore its lost glory in Bauchi. I must commend our civil servants for their dedication to implementing my administration’s policies across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

“All ongoing reforms in the service are in the best interest of the state. At this point, I want to assure you of my full support for a reward-and-punishment system to ensure discipline and enhance productivity,” the governor stated.

On the implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme in the state, Governor Mohammed disclosed that his administration has already released the state government’s contribution to expedite the process.

In his remarks, the State Head of Civil Service, Barrister Sani Umar, expressed gratitude to Governor Mohammed for his unwavering support for the growth and development of the civil service. He assured the governor of the workforce’s continued loyalty and commitment to achieving the administration’s objectives.
