The Anglican Bishop of Bida Diocese in Niger State, Rt. Rev. Jonah Kolo, has commended Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago for promoting religious tolerance and fostering peaceful coexistence among adherents of the two major religions in the state.
Bishop Kolo gave the commendation while receiving a delegation from the state government who visited his Diocese to condole with him over the death of his mother, the late Elizabeth Aishatu Kolo.
The Bishop noted that Governor Bago has remained true to his campaign promises by demonstrating fairness, justice, and equity in the governance of the state.
“Since his assumption of office, the state has witnessed peace and religious harmony. The governor has shown that he is a leader for all—regardless of tribe, religion, or political affiliation,” Bishop Kolo said.
He added that the Christian community in the state feels included and respected under the Bago administration, describing the governor as a leader who exemplifies inclusivity and capacity.
“Fairness, equity, and justice have been his watchwords since he took office. Every segment of the state has felt the impact of his governance,” the Bishop noted.
While expressing appreciation for the governor’s gesture of condolence, Bishop Kolo assured him of continued prayers and support for the success of his administration. He praised the governor’s developmental strides and urged him to maintain the momentum.
Earlier, the government delegation, led by a former Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism and APC chieftain, Hon. Jonathan Vatsa, conveyed the state’s condolences to the Bishop and his family.
Presenting a condolence letter signed by the governor, Vatsa described the passing of late Elizabeth Aishatu Kolo as a great loss to the state and the Christian community.
“Mama Elizabeth Aishatu Kolo has left a significant void in our hearts. Her enthusiasm for life and her selfless service to others were truly inspiring. She was a precious gift from God,” the letter read.
Governor Bago described the late matriarch as a devoted Christian who will be remembered for her grace, love, patience, and enduring legacy of faith and service to humanity.
