...“Focus Should Be on Justice, Not Settlement” — Natasha Tells Akpabio’s Counsel, Agbakoba
The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has firmly rejected an out-of-court settlement proposed by senior lawyer Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), who is representing Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who recently accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, said she would not entertain any settlement outside the judicial process, insisting that the case should proceed to full investigation and trial.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, she expressed dissatisfaction with the suggestion for an out-of-court resolution, stating that justice must be pursued transparently and in full accordance with the law.
“This matter is not about reaching a compromise; it is about accountability, justice, and setting a precedent that no one is above the law,” she said.
Senator Natasha had earlier filed a suit against Senate President Akpabio at a High Court in Abuja, alleging sexual harassment and misconduct.
She called on the legal system to ensure a thorough investigation, maintaining that any attempt to sideline the case through settlement would undermine the seriousness of the allegations and the rights of victims seeking justice.
