Bauchi state government has assured that it is not only committed to bringing about positive change in the  lives of its people, but also ensure that their lives and property are well protected. 

To this end, the government expressed it's desirability of creating an environment where all citizens would pursue their lawful activities without let or hindrance, recalling it has since coming on board in 2019 and subsequent re-election in 2023, embarked on the provision of infrastructural facilities and social amenities across the state. 

Governor Bala while speaking when the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu paid him a sallah homage as part of sallah celebrations held at the Government House, Bauchi on Monday.

Bala Mohammed explained that the  initiatives have changed the lives of the people of the state for the better, stressing "Ours is a government that is determined to do more with the little resources at its disposal".

This entails prudent management of resources and plugging leakages to free resources for execution of various projects, "While we are trying to ensure value for money, we need the support and cooperation of traditional rulers to succeed in the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people".  

The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Auwal Mohammed Jatau, called on the emir and his colleagues across the state to educate their people on the government’s effort, while appealing for their continued understanding and support to the government.

He reminded the emir about the role of traditional rulers in maintaining law and order in their domains through vigilance and prayers to complement government’s effort in this direction. 

According to him, it has become more imperative now, more than ever before, to remind them because of the  security challenges being faced by some of the state's border communities, as of recent, there have been reports of kidnapping and banditry in Bula district along Bauchi border with Plateau state. 

While the state government is collaborating with security  agencies to address the matter and other security challenges across the state, the governor appealed to the traditional rulers to prevail  on their people to be extra vigilant and report suspicious movements or persons to the security agencies.

He stated, "As we strive to invite investors to the State, we cannot afford to allow security challenges to discourage them from coming to invest in the State. I would also like to call on traditional rulers to ensure mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among their people irrespective of their ethnic, religious or political differences

Governor Bala said that the sustenance of the age-long tradition of homage paying is a manifestation of the support and honour he enjoys from the traditional institution in the state, saying the understanding between government and the traditional institution will go a long way in strengthening the existing  cordial relationship between the two parties.

Earlier, the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for his administration’s outstanding support to traditional rulers and promised their continued support for the success of his administration. 

Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman, also called on Muslim faithful in his emirate to embody the virtues of Ramadan and redouble their worship to maintain peaceful coexistence.

The Emir emphasized the importance of worship and peaceful coexistence among the society.

He also charged parents and guardians to monitor their children's activities and ensure they acquire both Western and Islamic education for a better future.

The Emir commended the Bauchi state government for providing dividends of democracy to citizens in the state.
