The historic Arewa House in Kaduna will host dignitaries from across Nigeria on Saturday, May 10, 2025, as the Kaduna-based media organization, Authentic News Daily, holds its 10th Annual Awards and Lecture.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Amos Ebute Mathew, and made available to journalists on Sunday, May 4, preparations have been finalized for the landmark event which will kick off at 10:00 a.m.
Notable figures expected at the event include Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; former Kano State Governor and NNPP Presidential Candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; and the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani.
Also listed are Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd).
Others expected to attend are former Zamfara State Governor Senator Abdulazeez Yari, Honourable Bello El-Rufai representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the 19 Northern States and the FCT, Reverend Joseph John Hayab, and Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council, Comrade Abdulgafar Alabelewe.
“This 10th edition marks a milestone for us,” said Mathew. “While previous editions focused solely on awards, this year we are introducing a lecture component that speaks directly to the challenges and aspirations of our nation.”
The theme of the event is “Religion as a Tool for Peace and National Unity,” and the keynote address will be delivered by General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd).
Panel presentations will offer diverse perspectives: Reverend Joseph John Hayab will speak from a Christian standpoint, Sheikh Halliru Abdullahi Maraya—Northern Coordinator of the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria—will offer the Islamic view, and National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu will present the government’s position.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu is expected to be honored as Authentic Woman of the Year 2024. Other recipients of the prestigious Authentic News Daily Awards include Engineer Musa Nimrod, the Dangote Group, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Senator Abdulazeez Yari, and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
Mathew expressed hope that this year’s event would foster meaningful dialogue and promote religious tolerance and national integration.
