Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has fired back at recent allegations made by Baffa Bichi, the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), branding him “a shameless liar” and dismissing the claims as politically motivated falsehoods.
The governor’s reaction was conveyed in a strongly worded statement released on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf condemned the statements made by Bichi on social media, describing them as “baseless fabrications intended to mislead the public and tarnish reputations.”
“The claims are not only false but also laughable. Baffa Bichi is a big liar, and everything he said is a total fallacy,” the governor said.
One of the major allegations refuted by Yusuf was that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, receives N2 billion monthly from the Kano State Government.
Describing the claim as “the height of political desperation and dishonesty,” Governor Yusuf said: “Senator Kwankwaso is one of the purest and most selfless individuals in Kano. He has never demanded a penny from this administration, nor has he interfered with the government’s finances.”
The governor also questioned the timing and intent behind Bichi’s claims, pointing out that the former SSG had spent over a year in the administration without voicing any concerns—until after his removal.
“You were in this government for more than a year. If you had any integrity, you would have spoken out while still in office. But you chose silence until you were sent parking. That exposes your real motive,” Yusuf asserted.
According to the statement, Bichi’s exit was due to “incapacitation, poor performance, and administrative negligence.”
Governor Yusuf concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance, urging the public to disregard what he termed “the noise of bitter politicians who have lost relevance.”
