Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has extended warm congratulations to the Muslim Ummah in Zamfara and across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is being observed today, Friday, June 6, 2025, by Muslims worldwide. The annual celebration commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal emphasized the spiritual importance of the festival, describing it as one of the most significant observances in the Islamic calendar.
“The Zamfara State Government extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim Ummah on this special occasion of Eid al-Adha,” the statement read.
“Eid al-Adha offers Muslims a moment to reflect on the virtues of faith, obedience, selflessness, and our collective responsibility to one another. It is a time to honour the spirit of sacrifice exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and to renew our commitment to service, unity, and community.”
Governor Lawal called on citizens to use the festive period to stand together in the fight against social vices, deviant behaviour, and crimes that undermine societal peace.
“We must come together as a united force to combat the challenges that threaten our communities. It is through collective effort and responsibility that we can ensure the safety and well-being of Zamfara, and Nigeria at large,” the statement added.
He concluded by praying for divine acceptance of the sacrifices made during the festival and for continued peace and blessings across the state and nation.
“May Allah accept our sacrifices as acts of worship. May He continue to bless Zamfara State and Nigeria,” the Governor prayed.
