The National Coordinator of the Bola Tinubu Support Organization (BTSO), Hon. Idris Danlami Zango, has resigned from his position, citing unresolved internal disputes and leadership interference as the primary reasons for his decision.
In a resignation letter made available to journalists, Hon. Zango, who also serves as Vice Chairman of Bida Local Government Council and holds the traditional title of Maitakobi Nupe, expressed frustration over what he described as continued interference from his predecessor and founder of the organization, Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso, who currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT).
According to Zango, the former coordinator’s insistence on being a signatory to the organization's accounts and continued control over its operations rendered the current leadership ineffective and undermined his role as National Coordinator.
“The founding coordinator, now BoT Chairman, has retained control over the affairs of BTSO in all capacities,” the letter stated. “This has left the current management unable to function independently or effectively discharge their responsibilities.”
Zango expressed gratitude to members of the organization for the opportunity to serve, saying it was time to move on. “I appreciate the trust reposed in me by the organization, but I believe it is in the best interest of all parties that I step aside,” he wrote.
The Bola Tinubu Support Organization (BTSO) was established by Dr. Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso as a prominent grassroots support group for the presidential ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Following the formation of the official Tinubu campaign structure, Kuso was appointed Personal Assistant to the Director-General of the campaign, then-Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong.
After the 2023 general elections, Lalong was appointed Minister of Labour and Productivity and later reclaimed his senatorial mandate at the election tribunal. During this period, Kuso continued to work closely with Lalong until his eventual appointment as Executive Director at the Niger Upper River Basin Development Authority. He subsequently relinquished his position as BTSO National Coordinator but retained significant influence as BoT Chairman.
With Zango’s resignation citing internal interference and a lack of autonomy for the current leadership, questions are now being raised about the future direction and relevance of BTSO as a political support platform within the Tinubu administration.
Efforts to reach key stakeholders of the organization for comment were unsuccessful as of press time.
