Speaking to newsmen, Engineer Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, said the initiative is part of the speaker’s efforts to improve the socio-economic status of people in the Zaria Federal Constituency.

Jaga explained that over 10,000 beneficiaries will receive different forms of assistance aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting small businesses. In the first phase of the programme, 1,500 women and youth will receive food items and cash grants ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦200,000.

In the second phase, a shoe-making skills programme will be rolled out to train participants, with each receiving materials worth over ₦1 million to start their own business. Additionally, 1,500 tailors will be supported with industrial sewing machines to promote local fashion and create jobs.

To strengthen agriculture, 4,000 dry-season farmers will receive solar-powered irrigation machines with dual 600-watt panels, while another 1,500 women will be empowered with grinding machines. Another set of 1,500 beneficiaries will receive deep freezers to support their businesses. Jaga added that over 2,000 farmers will be provided with modern agricultural equipment, including tractors, combined threshers, haulage tricycles, and knapsack sprayers, to encourage mechanized and efficient farming in the constituency.
