The Director-General of the Bauchi State Vigilante Group, Dr. Umar Shayi, has received a special award from the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani Aliyu, in recognition of his contributions to security in the state.
The development was disclosed to journalists in Bauchi by the Agency’s Head of Media and Communications Strategy, Abdullahi Idris.
According to the statement, the award marks another significant milestone in Dr. Shayi’s sustained efforts toward improving the security of lives and property across the state.
While presenting the award on behalf of the Bauchi State Police Command, CP Sani Aliyu commended Dr. Shayi for his commitment to strengthening community policing and urged him to sustain the momentum to ensure that community-based security initiatives continue to thrive across the state.
The Police Commissioner also called on stakeholders to provide timely and credible intelligence to security agencies in the collective pursuit of peace, development, and prosperity.
In his response, Dr. Shayi dedicated the award to the service of humanity, as well as to ongoing peace and development initiatives, which he described as hallmarks of societal productivity and sustainability.
He expressed appreciation to both conventional and non-conventional security agencies for their effective collaboration and commitment to maintaining law and order in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Dr. Shayi also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for what he described as commendable efforts in advancing development across various sectors in the state.
Dr. Shayi currently serves as the Permanent Secretary-designate of the agency. He also doubles as Chairman of the Special Constabulary Police, Bauchi State Command, and Assistant Commander-General (Operations) of the Nigeria Hunters and Forestry Security Service.
