The Expanded Interface Committee of the Bida, Katcha and Gbako Federal Constituency has strongly condemned what it described as the alleged G-10 plan to endorse Hon. Saidu Musa Abdul (SMA) for a third term, declaring the move illegal, unacceptable, and null and void.
Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Abubakar Katcha, made this known while addressing journalists in Bida shortly after a crucial meeting with five aspirants seeking the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the constituency.
According to him, the committee met with the aspirants—Isah Kawu, Mohammed Yakubu Esheti, Alhaji Baba Abubakar Chengudugi, Abdulsalam M. Madaki, and Yahaya Yab—as part of ongoing consultations aimed at ensuring fairness and unity within the party ahead of the primaries.
Alhaji Katcha maintained that the alleged G-10 endorsement does not represent the collective decision of stakeholders across the constituency, insisting it is being driven by what he described as a “Bida agenda” rather than the broader interest of the people.
He described the move as unfortunate and divisive, warning that it could create unnecessary tension within party ranks.
The chairman stressed that only an official consensus committee—yet to be constituted by the Niger State Government and the party leadership—has the legitimate mandate to interface with aspirants and broker peace toward producing a consensus candidate.
He further disclosed that one of the alleged G-10 members had earlier contacted him, claiming that Mohammed Umaru Bago had directed the committee to adopt Saidu Musa Abdul as the stakeholders’ preferred candidate.
However, Katcha said when he insisted on speaking directly with the governor for confirmation, the individual reportedly withdrew the claim, raising concerns over the authenticity of the endorsement.
He therefore called on Governor Bago and the state APC leadership to urgently intervene and call the G-10 group to order to prevent a looming crisis in the constituency.
The committee warned that allowing such unilateral endorsements could threaten peace, unity, and political stability in Bida, Katcha and Gbako, urging stakeholders to embrace dialogue, justice, and due process as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
