The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, has officially flagged off a statewide immunization campaign aimed at protecting children and vulnerable populations against preventable diseases.
The flag-off ceremony, held at the Emir’s Palace in Minna, marked the beginning of the government’s renewed commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring that every eligible child is immunized against life-threatening illnesses.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of vaccination in safeguarding public health, noting that immunization remains one of the most effective and cost-efficient ways of preventing diseases and reducing child mortality.
He called on parents, caregivers, and community leaders to support the campaign by ensuring that children are taken to designated health centres to receive their vaccines.
Comrade Garba also commended health workers and development partners for their dedication and collaborative efforts toward promoting immunization across the state.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Muhammad Bagana, said the campaign would cover all the 25 Local Government Areas of Niger State.
He disclosed that more than 4,000 mobile health personnel teams had been deployed to reach approximately 2.5 million underserved children, particularly those in rural and hard-to-reach communities, to ensure that no child is left behind.
Dr. Bagana reassured the public that the vaccines are safe, free, and essential for the healthy growth and development of children.
He further reiterated the Niger State Government’s commitment to improving healthcare services and called on all stakeholders to actively participate in making the immunization campaign a success.
