Dr. Jamila Bala has inaugurated the Garkuwar Sha'irai Foundation Birni da Kewaye Zaria, a non-governmental organisation established to empower vulnerable members of society through humanitarian support and vocational skills development.
The foundation was formally launched on Sunday at the Alhuda-Alhuda School Conference Hall in Zaria, with dignitaries, Islamic scholars, community leaders, and other invited guests in attendance.
Speaking at the inauguration, the founders said the foundation is dedicated to supporting vulnerable persons, including individuals with special needs, by providing vocational training and other empowerment initiatives aimed at promoting self-reliance and improving their quality of life.
They explained that the foundation seeks to reduce poverty, strengthen household economic resilience, and equip disadvantaged members of society with practical skills that will enable them to become economically independent and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
The founders further noted that the initiative reflects a long-term commitment to sustainable community development through education, empowerment, and social inclusion.
Participants at the event commended the establishment of the foundation, describing it as a timely intervention that would complement efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable groups and foster inclusive socio-economic development in Zaria and its surrounding communities.
