The launch ceremony of the Maicanter Micro Personal Empowerment Scheme 1.0 was held at the Zaria Local Government Secretariat, where it received widespread commendation from members of the community.
The initiative, established by the Secretary of Zaria Local Government, Hon. Alhaji Shuaibu Abdullahi Maicanter, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government area, was designed to support citizens and strengthen their economic well-being.
The event witnessed the distribution of various empowerment items to more than 700 beneficiaries drawn from different parts of Zaria Local Government Area.
Items distributed included cars, motorcycles, bicycles, vulcanizing machines, sewing machines, bags of beans, gallons of groundnut oil, and cash grants for selected women.
Special wheelchairs were also provided to persons living with disabilities to improve their mobility and daily activities.
In addition, some beneficiaries received educational scholarships, further emphasizing the importance of education as a foundation for individual and societal development.
The scheme also allocated ten Umrah slots to selected participants, giving them the opportunity to perform the holy pilgrimage, while enhancing the social and spiritual impact of the programme.
The event reflected values of compassion, unity, and grassroots development. Many attendees noted that the initiative aligns with the people-centred leadership approach of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, whose administration continues to prioritize economic empowerment, education, and public welfare.
Programmes of this nature play a vital role in reducing poverty, creating employment opportunities, and promoting sustainable development. By investing in citizens, communities are empowered to become more self-reliant and productive contributors to national growth.
Among the dignitaries who attended and delivered speeches were the Chairman of the Kaduna State Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Abubakar Jamil Albani Samaru; Hon. Baba Isa; and the Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Hon. Jaga.
In their remarks, they commended Hon. Maicanter for the initiative and expressed their full support for his efforts. They also appreciated Governor Uba Sani and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, for their contributions to the development of Zaria and the nation at large.
One of the beneficiaries of a vehicle grant, Comrade Adamu, expressed gratitude, stating that the support would motivate him to expand his business activities and improve his standard of living.
Similarly, Hajiya Aisha, who received a cash grant of ₦300,000, praised Hon. Maicanter for his commitment to supporting the community and improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
Speaking with journalists after the event, Hon. Maicanter thanked Almighty Allah and paid tribute to Governor Uba Sani, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and the Chairman of Zaria Local Government for their continued support.
He pledged to continue implementing programmes that would positively impact the lives of the people and wished success for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders of the APC at all levels.
He also thanked all guests, community leaders, and stakeholders for their support and encouragement.
The event was successfully concluded in a peaceful atmosphere.
